Match reports 2006/7 season
Guildford Saints Ladies away to Farncombe Ladies Sunday 11th Feb 2007
This week we travelled to Farncombe to face a team we have already played twice this season. The reserves were called into play this week since we have a long list of injured players leaving the team somewhat depleted. However we got off to a flying start scoring in the first 2 minutes of the game, 1st goal of the season from Dawn Davies (Usually defence) playing in a new position. The rest of the first half was hard fought with Farncombe winning a number of corners but unable to break down our excellent defence. Half time score remained 1-0 to visitors.
The 2nd half started exactly the same as the first and within 2 minutes of the re-start Ulrika Boken lobbed the keeper who had no chance of making a save. Saints had the better 2nd half creating a number of chances that unfortunately were not put away, until half way through the 2nd half when Ulrika slotted home her 2nd of the match.
Changes had to be made during the 2nd half due to injuries and illness, our thanks to both Laura Harris (Captain), still suffering from injury and Mel Lewis returning from ankle injury, both spectators at the match who replaced the sick and injured. Full time score 3-0 to the visitors – who were jubilant.
Next week we play at home to Ascot Utd Ladies 1PM KO at the Varsity.
